Stick to the program, temper your spending appropriately, and eventually YNAB will see you spending last month's money rather than that which you've just earned. YNAB's primary mission, as you might expect, is to help you curb overspending and avoid living from paycheck to paycheck. And perhaps you have more money than you thought? For budgeting, it offers you a chance to input your purchases and income so you can compare them both together to get a better idea of how much you are spending compared to how much you are earning. Why you can trust TechRadar Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. When I got my iPod Touch in 2010, Air Video was the best streaming app out there. Both cost the same and both need you to run proprietary server apps on your Mac/PC. Air Video HD ($2.99) And StreamToMe ($2.99)Īir Video HD and StreamToMe are both pretty similar apps. Not everything can end like an episode of Tom and Jerry I suppose. But it had been playing a game of cat and mouse with the App Store ever since it came out. Please bring back VLC Player: VLC was probably the best media player for watching and streaming local media. If you’re looking for an end-all solution to iPad media player, this might be for you. But the free app is severely limited and unlike MCPlayer HD, the unlock takes a mighty $6.99. It plays any format you throw at it and streams from every major local and remote server. Infuse 2 is frankly the best looking and probably the most feature rich media player for the iPad. Plex has its own streaming app for iOS but the only problem with it is that it’s paid and only works with Plex Media Server. If MCPlayer HD doesn’t float your boat, take a look at the options below. The beauty of using Plex Media Server to host your files is that it’s compatible with a lot of receiver apps on many different platforms. Once downloaded, you’ll find the local media in the Docs section. Downloading a TV show episode only takes a couple of seconds. As this is happening over the network, the speed is insanely fast. Tapping it will start the download over Wi-Fi. When you’re browsing a folder, you’ll see a Download icon (highlighted in the screenshot below). MCPlayer HD has another great free feature, which is wirelessly downloading media files for later use. Download Media Files To iPad For Offline Use So unless you plan on streaming TV shows with MCPlayer, HD you don’t really need to pay for the unlock in-app purchase. If your movie collection is sorted by one movie in one subfolder (as it should be) there’s only one media file in one folder, which will be unlocked. You don’t need to pay if you’re just going to watch movies: MCPlayer HD unlocks the first 5 media files in a folder. The app supports gestures for fast forward/rewind as well. There’s no loss in quality or lag in playback. It decodes formats like HD MKV very well. Tapping on a video file will start immediate playback. You can remove ads by paying another $1.99. This limit can be unlocked by paying $0.99 as an in-app purchase. When you open a folder you’ll see that only 5 video files are visible and everything else is locked. Tap the relevant folders and you’ll get to the media. Tapping on it will bring up the contents stored on your Plex Media Server.įrom here tap the Video folder and you’ll see options for Movies and TV shows. Here in the Media Sources page you’ll see a Plex Media Server button. You’ll now come to the app’s home screen. Open the app and swipe through the opening tutorial. The app also supports streaming for files shared via Windows Homegroup but for some reason that did not work for me. It’s a free app that allows you to stream videos from media centers like XBMC, Plex, and other UPnP compatible servers. Go to the App Store and download MCPlayer HD on your iPad. Using MCPlayer HD To Stream And Download Media Wirelessly Plex will take a couple of minutes to scan your media. Step 5: After all your media is added, press Next and you’re done. Step 4: Select Movies or TV shows and point Plex to the folder that you’ve stored the relevant media in. You’ll have to do this twice – once for movies and once for TV shows. Step 3: From the next popup, select the type of media you want to add. Click the Plex icon from the taskbar and the web based management interface will show up. Step 1: Download and install Plex Media Server. Check out this guide for more information. Related: Have an Android tablet as well? You can use the same Plex Media Center setup to stream to Android devices. Plex scans and organizes your media on its own and adds things like metadata and cover art. If your TV shows are sorted by seasons, it’s much better. To get started, make sure all your movies are sorted in one folder (each movie in its own sub folder). Plex Media Server helps you make sense of your folder-based media collection. Setting Up Plex Media Server On Mac/PC And Importing Stored Media
Of course, that would necessitate a redesign of the Scan-O-Matic 7000… maybe it’s time for a mark IV? The other option would be to get closer… not only would I get more pixels of negative to push around, I’d also get higher resolution. There are a relatively large number of these simulations, and unlike similar Lightroom plugins, Film Simulation in RawTherapee is built-in and free. Thanks to the Open Source underpinnings, RawTherapee has access to Pat David’s Hald CULT film simulations… BRILLIANT.(or if it does, I can’t find it in the application or in the manual), so you’ll need to roll you own file management system. It has pretty much everything you need to process RAW files in any way you see fit, as long as you’re willing to play around some, experiment, and RTFM, but it doesn’t do import, file management, etc. It’s bad, because, for me, some of the locations of things don’t make much sense and there’s a ton of functionality that I’ve missed out on in the two weeks (off and on) I’ve spent with it. This is both good and bad: it’s good, because some actual human(s) made it, put stuff where it made sense to them, picked colors and icons and themes that were pleasing and or had some meaning to them, and included pretty much everything they thought they or their friends might need. Like the open source app that it is, RawTherapee looks like an open source app. It’s so good, in fact, that every time I go to check something, I find something new to try.Īnd that’s partly why I’m so behind in this project… If you don’t believe me, just dive in to the RawPedia, the most thorough and easy to use manual that I’ve encountered thusfar. RawTherapee is a very powerful Raw file converter/developer…Īnd I’ll just leave it at that. Installation: normal download dmg & drag app to Applications folder (or wherever you like).
